Mount Aspiring — Tititea in te reo Maori — is often called the Matterhorn of the Southern Hemisphere: a near-perfect pyramid of ice and rock rising to 3,033m at the head of the Matukituki Valley in Otago. It's the highest peak outside of Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, and it anchors the Mount Aspiring National Park that shares its name. Tititea's profile is instantly recognisable across the Southern Lakes — visible from Roy's Peak ridge, from the Matukituki Valley Road, from high points throughout the Wanaka region.
