The Rob Roy Glacier Track is one of the most accessible glacier experiences in New Zealand — a 10 km return walk through the West Matukituki Valley in Mount Aspiring National Park. The track climbs through silver beech forest, crosses swing bridges over glacier-fed streams, and arrives at a viewpoint facing the Rob Roy Glacier's hanging ice walls — seracs and ice cliffs that calve with audible booms on warm summer days. The Rob Roy Glacier Track starts from Raspberry Flat, about 55 km from Wanaka via the Matukituki Valley Road — accessible for most fit walkers and consistently rated one of the finest short walks in the national park: combining alpine scenery, native forest, and glacial ice in a single day. Hand-drawn topographic art capturing the Matukituki Valley and Rob Roy Glacier Track terrain.
